Co-mission (You and the World)

Blessing is essential to following Jesus! We believe that just as we have been blessed, so we are called to live a life of  “blessing”; bringing about revitalization & reconciliation.

Kids-in-Motion exists to be a “blessing” to the children and families of Easton through providing opportunities for children and families to gather together for fun and fellowship. KiM seeks to do that through quarterly “open gym bashes” and a week long summer sports & arts camp! See our calendar for upcoming Kim events.

Community Builders exists to be a “blessing” to the city of Easton through acts of service (clean-up, light construction, etc.). Community Builders seeks to do that through planned “service days” within our community and among our neighbors that cultivate a lifestyle of service, sacrifice and “blessing”. See our calendar for upcoming Community Builders events.

Faith-and-Life is a public forum that involves listening, sharing and learning together as we explore questions and doubts about faith and life!

What do we mean by co-mission?

Since we ourselves have been saved by the love and mercy of God, we desire to be a church that loves and blesses others.  A big part of that is that we seek to reach and serve the marginalized of our society, to be agents of social justice and to be the means of merciful hope to the needy.  We believe that an inevitable mark of having been saved by grace is a love for the orphan, the alien and the widow.  Within our church we will take Jesus words at the end of the parable of the Good Samaritan seriously – ‘go and do likewise’.
We are a church that exists for the sake of the expansion of God’s Kingdom locally, regionally and to the ‘ends of the earth’.  Locally we hope to engage the un-churched and see many people become followers of Christ.  Regionally we hope to be a part of a strategic church planting movement that encompasses the entire Lehigh Valley.  ‘To the ends of the earth’ we hope to be a part of reaching other parts of the world with the ‘good news’ of Jesus Christ.

Core values for co-mission

    • Community (urban) Revitalization… From the center square to the rivers and highways that define our city; from the prosperity of the historic canal district to the poverty of fringe neighborhoods; from the diverse ethnicities of the world which have spurred Easton’s growth to the continuing presence of Germans and other Europeans who originally settled Easton… we believe the gospel is the means of recreating, rebuilding and reconnecting the various communities that make up our diverse city.  Therefore…

      • We are committed to civic involvement, economic investment (human and financial resources) and political activism as a means of being a blessing to the city of Easton for the glory of God.
      • I Peter 3:8-21, Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing… But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord…”

    • Cultural Renewal… From the State Theatre to the business district; from the call to be a “locavore” (a person who attempts to eat only foods grown locally) to the growing artisan community; from Friday evening’s Jazz to Saturday morning’s farmers market… we believe the gospel inspires creativity, expands the imagination and brings meaning to the arts.  Therefore…

      • Colossians 1:15ff, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him…”

    • Missional Restoration… From our homes to our workplaces; from our most sacred spaces to our secular places; from who we are to whom we meet… as ‘aliens and strangers in this world’ we believe the gospel commands us to ‘go’ and call people to follow Christ.  Therefore…
